Many of us are put in the challenging position of having to deal with ICBC when our vehicle’s are damaged and we have to make an insurance claim. The claims process can be very stressful and confusing to most people. Many questions arise during the filing of a claim, and prior to having the claim processed by ICBC. Most people are not equipped to handle the process and deal with the highly trained claims adjusters during their first contact with ICBC.

Many of the questions that arise are

  • Will my insurance rates go up?
  • Are they going to blame me?
  • I’m injured, they say I’m not, what should I do?
  • What about my car?
  • What if my car is a total loss?
  • Can I cash settle on the damages?
  • The person that hit says it’s my fault and it’s not. What can I do?
  • Are they going to use used parts to repair my car?
  • Are they going to use aftermarket parts to repair my car?why?
  • They are referring me to one of their accredited shops; do I have to use one of their shops?
  • Who guarantees the repairs to my car?
  • Are they going to cover all the damages?
  • I have some old damage on my car, how does that affect my claim?
  • ICBC says my car is a total loss, can I save my car?
  • They say there is depreciation payable on my claim.
  • Some thing fell off a truck and hit my car; will that affect my insurance rates?
  • Someone scratched my car with a key; will this affect my insurance rates?

These are only a few of the many questions that arise when your vehicle is damaged and you have to file a claim with ICBC. If you don’t know the answer to some of these questions, or answer them incorrectly when asked by an ICBC adjuster, you could put your claim in jeopardy or have your claim denied.

We at Pieschel’s Consulting have staff with many years’ experience working at ICBC. We can help you file your claim. Or help you with any questions after you have filed your claim. “We're on your side.” We will help you through the claims process to ensure you are treated fairly and completely understand what ICBC has told, or will tell you during the filing of your claim.
